District 39 is an urban Atlanta-area district with a majority Black population, a relatively young median age, higher educational attainment in some neighborhoods, but persistent pockets of poverty and housing affordability challenges in others. The district includes communities where economic mobility, public safety, affordable housing, and workforce development consistently rank among voters' concerns.
John is accustomed to solving problems, scaling businesses and helping people attain their goals. He has faith, passion and concerns for District 39, because he has lived in it most of his life. John knows the importance of addressing these pockets of poverty, helping families stabilize and become self sufficient. John also wants to address affordability, not only in the district, but for all of Georgia.

Make Georgia Affordable

Georgia families are getting squeezed. Groceries cost more. Rent costs more. College costs more. Property taxes are out of control. Politicians talk about affordability, but talk never paid a bill. As Senator, John will vote to:
  • Cut the state income tax
  • Freeze property taxes immediately
  • Make living affordable
  • Use AI to eliminate wasteful spending

Protect Children

John is clear and unapologetic. Children deserve protection — not political experiments. And he believes it’s about time foster kids went from the back of the line towards the front. John will vote to fight to give college students a better chance to succeed, all at no extra cost to taxpayers.

Affordable Housing

John believes that every hardworking family deserves the opportunity to live in a safe, stable, and affordable home. He will support practical solutions that increase the supply of quality housing, encourage responsible redevelopment of vacant and underused properties, reduce unnecessary barriers to new housing, and expand pathways to homeownership for first-time buyers. 
By partnering with local governments, nonprofits, developers, and community organizations, John will work to ensure that teachers, first responders, seniors, veterans, young professionals, and working families can afford to live in the communities they serve. His goal is to promote responsible growth that strengthens neighborhoods, protects property values, and creates long-term housing stability for District 39.

Tough on Crime

John knows public safety challenges demand urgency, accountability, and results. Every family deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood, and every victim deserves a justice system that works efficiently and fairly. By focusing on transparency, responsibility, and proven solutions, John is committed to building a justice system that protects our communities, respects taxpayers, and strengthens public confidence.

Dignity Through Work

John Guest believes work brings dignity, purpose, and independence. Creating dependency is not compassion. Forcing people to work is not a punishment; it is a means to lift people up out of poverty. Government assistance should be a bridge, not a lifestyle. John would vote to:
  • Tie public assistance to work or job training for able-bodied adults
  • End endless dependency programs
  • Expand job training and vocational pathway
  • Reward effort, responsibility, and self-reliance
